TIMBERCAST
Mass Timber Monitoring Kit
The Mass Timber Monitoring Kit offers comprehensive monitoring for mass timber structures using advanced moisture sensors and real-time data analytics. From manufacturing to installation, it provides continuous insights, enabling early issue detection and proactive maintenance to ensure structural integrity and longevity.
Our Purpose
Why is it important to monitor moisture in Mass Timber?
Greater Risk
Mass Timber is a relatively new material to the market and its moisture induced effects and thermal properties are different than building materials like steel and concrete.
As a result, it is important in the early stages of a material’s adoption into the AEC market to monitor and analyze the building performance.
Retain Moisture
Mass Timber retains water similar to a sponge, which can collect and cause damage to structurally significant portions of the building.
External Conditions
The moisture content of wood components are affected by external environmental conditions and internal sources generated during construction and occupant generated moisture.
Structure Displacement
Mass Timber poses some unique challenges other materials don’t - wood is a hydroscopic material and will expand and contract over time from moisture, temperature and other forces.
